Social Work Research

Social work research is another important method of social work. It refers to the systematic and critical enquiry of the questions encountered by social work professionals in the field of application. This method makes efforts to find answers to the existing and emerging social work problems to make them useful in functional areas. Like social sciences, social work research contributes a lot to the storehouse of its knowledge and helps better plan and implement social work programmes.

সমাজকর্ম গবেষণা সামাজিক কাজের আরেকটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ পদ্ধতি। এটি প্রয়োগের ক্ষেত্রে সামাজিক কর্ম পেশাদারদের দ্বারা সম্মুখীন প্রশ্নের পদ্ধতিগত এবং সমালোচনামূলক অনুসন্ধানকে বোঝায়। এই পদ্ধতিটি বিদ্যমান এবং উদীয়মান সামাজিক কাজের সমস্যাগুলির উত্তর খুঁজে বের করার প্রচেষ্টা করে যাতে তারা কার্যকরী ক্ষেত্রে কার্যকর হয়। সামাজিক বিজ্ঞানের মতো, সমাজকর্ম গবেষণা তার জ্ঞানের ভাণ্ডারে অনেক অবদান রাখে এবং আরও ভাল পরিকল্পনা এবং সামাজিক কর্ম কর্মসূচি বাস্তবায়নে সহায়তা করে।

The effective planning and implementation of development programmes and projects in the country depend mainly on reliable, adequate and valid data. Social work research is the systematic and scientific study of social problems to produce knowledge for planning and carrying out social work problems. It is a powerful tool in all social work settings and is used in all the social work methods discussed earlier. For instance, all the social problems we have been citing so far can only be understood if we have scientific and systematic methods to find out their various causes to formulate specific intervention strategies to arrive at solutions.

দেশে উন্নয়ন কর্মসূচী ও প্রকল্পের কার্যকর পরিকল্পনা ও বাস্তবায়ন নির্ভর করে মূলত নির্ভরযোগ্য, পর্যাপ্ত এবং বৈধ তথ্যের উপর। সামাজিক কাজের গবেষণা হল সামাজিক সমস্যাগুলির পদ্ধতিগত এবং বৈজ্ঞানিক অধ্যয়ন যা সামাজিক কাজের সমস্যাগুলির পরিকল্পনা এবং পরিচালনার জন্য জ্ঞান তৈরি করে। এটি সমস্ত সামাজিক কাজের সেটিংসে একটি শক্তিশালী হাতিয়ার এবং আগে আলোচনা করা সমস্ত সামাজিক কাজের পদ্ধতিতে ব্যবহৃত হয়। উদাহরণস্বরূপ, আমরা এখন পর্যন্ত যে সমস্ত সামাজিক সমস্যাগুলি উদ্ধৃত করেছি তা কেবলমাত্র তখনই বোঝা যাবে যদি আমাদের কাছে সমাধানে পৌঁছানোর জন্য নির্দিষ্ট হস্তক্ষেপের কৌশল প্রণয়নের জন্য তাদের বিভিন্ন কারণগুলি খুঁজে বের করার জন্য বৈজ্ঞানিক এবং পদ্ধতিগত পদ্ধতি থাকে। 

The following highlight the importance of social work research: 

• It helps identify the social problem, its intensity and extensiveness, its causal factors, its impact on the target population, and its repercussions on the people's social life.[এটি সামাজিক সমস্যা, এর তীব্রতা এবং ব্যাপকতা, এর কার্যকারণ, লক্ষ্য জনসংখ্যার উপর এর প্রভাব এবং জনগণের সামাজিক জীবনে এর প্রভাব চিহ্নিত করতে সাহায্য করে। ]

• Gives an understanding of the factual ground realities (not mere perceptions) of the social situations, which aid in conceptualising the pros and cons of possible intervention strategies. [সামাজিক পরিস্থিতির বাস্তবিক গ্রাউন্ড বাস্তবতা (শুধু উপলব্ধি নয়) সম্পর্কে একটি বোঝাপড়া দেয়, যা সম্ভাব্য হস্তক্ষেপ কৌশলগুলির সুবিধা এবং অসুবিধাগুলি ধারণা করতে সহায়তা করে। ]

• Helps social workers gain in-depth knowledge about a social problem, factors contributing to it and its impact on the socio-cultural and economic life of clients. [সামাজিক কর্মীদের একটি সামাজিক সমস্যা, এতে অবদান রাখার কারণ এবং গ্রাহকদের সামাজিক-সাংস্কৃতিক ও অর্থনৈতিক জীবনে এর প্রভাব সম্পর্কে গভীর জ্ঞান অর্জন করতে সহায়তা করে। ]

• Helps to focus on social issues prevailing in the organisation by studying various aspects such as the team climate to understand factors affecting team effectiveness through proper understanding of group effectiveness (Bhattacharyya, 2008). [দলের কার্যকারিতা সঠিকভাবে বোঝার মাধ্যমে দলের কার্যকারিতাকে প্রভাবিত করে এমন কারণগুলি বোঝার জন্য দলের আবহাওয়ার মতো বিভিন্ন দিক অধ্যয়ন করে সংগঠনে বিরাজমান সামাজিক সমস্যাগুলিতে ফোকাস করতে সহায়তা করে (ভট্টাচার্য, 2008)। ] 

Finally, a systematic study of social problems is a must for the attainment of goals in all social work methods. Research findings thus help in the formulation of change and the design of intervention plans according to clients' needs.
