"A hula hoop is a toy hoop that is twirled around the waist, limbs or neck. They have been used by children and adults since at least 500 BC. The modern hula hoop was inspired by Australian bamboo hoops. The new plastic version was popularized in 1958 by the Wham-O toy company and became a fad. Hula hoops for children generally measure approximately 28 inches (71 cm) in diameter, while those for adults measure around 40 inches (1.0 m). Traditional materials for hoops include willow, rattan (a flexible and strong vine), grapevines and stiff grasses. Today, they are usually made of plastic tubing." - Wikipedia
Now I would like to preface this with I have VERY little hoop knowledge! I will however, go over what I used and where to get some information. Huge shout-out to my friend again [Bassssfairy] for helping me get started. She also offers lessons on her Patreon.
As of now (August 2021) I only have two hoops. Both of which were purchased with moodhoops. The biggest thing with hooping, and what I have learned is that you will purchase multiple hoops in order to fit your flow and size! Hoop sizing will be different for almost everyone, and is widely based on your body and preference.
Here is the size guide I used combined with my friends help: [Size Guide]
I finally started dipping my toes into practicing more with my hoop. I found Hip Hoop Hooray has been very informative, and her videos are very willdone.
