To get a full picture of the re-zoning and minimum lot sizes proposed through Councils' Draft Rural Land Use Strategy, the whole LGA map was printed and put together.
The first map on this page is the Minimum Lot Size.
Key points on this map to look at and reflect on are:
The area coloured salmon have a minimum of 250 hectares.
The area coloured yellow have a minimum of 400 hectares;
There are two different pinks, although are difficult to differentiate. The darker areas, mostly in the north will have a minimum of 80 hectares (this has not changed from current minimums); the lighter/brighter pink used around towns and villages is 8 hectares, and the area around Jindabyne is a minimum of 40 hectares.
Interestingly, the Queanbeyan Palerang portion of the map in the top right corner reflects 80 hectare minimums in the area to the north of Tinderry Nature Reserve and 40 hectare minimums to the east of Tallaganda State Forest and Nature Reserves.
The next map shows the proposed zoning.
The key points and areas of interest on this map are:
Significant areas affected by the last season of catastrophic bush fires are to be E-Zoned;
These E-Zones are the mid-orange coloured areas;
Areas in the north of the LGA, following the Monaro highway, are being changed from RU1-Primary Production to RU2-Rural Landscape;
Areas in the West, surrounding Jindabyne and Adaminaby are to be RU2-Rural Landscape.
Again in Queanbeyan Palerang, the areas surrounding the north of Tinderry Nature Reserve maintain their RU1-Primary Production zone as do the areas east of the Tallaganda State Forest and Nature Reserves.
