The Catholic Society of St. Michaelās Institution had the privilege of hosting a Mass in conjunction with the Perjalanan Salib Malaysia on 24th September 2025. The Mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Aloysius Tan, Parish Priest of St. Michaelās Church, Ipoh. We are especially grateful to him and the parish for lending us the āSalibā Cross, a powerful symbol of Christās sacrifice and unity, which continues its journey across Malaysia as a call for all believers to walk together in faith and solidarity.
All Christian and Catholic students of St. Michaelās Institution took part in the celebration, joining together in prayer and reflection. It was a spiritual moment for the school community, marking not only our devotion but also our gratitude towards Rev. Fr. Aloysius Tan and St. Michaelās Church, Ipoh, for their generosity and support in making this occasion possible.
After a 10-year hiatus, the Catholic Society of St Michaelās Institution (SMI), organised the AGAPE Camp: One Through His Love. This day-long camp welcomed youth aged 13 to 19 from both Christian and non-Christian backgrounds, drawing participants from various schools. A total of 70 students came together in fellowship and faith. The name āAGAPEā captured the essence of the camp ā a love that is unconditional. The day began at 7.00am the organising committee, always on their toes, extended a warm welcome to everyone, ensuring that the atmosphere was lively and inclusive. After an opening prayer by Teacher Advisor Mdm Komathi and welcoming speeches, participants engaged in ice-breaking activities . A talk by Fr Stanley Antoni focusing on how their attitude, actions, and faith could turn darkness into light. The highlight of the morning was the celebration of the Holy Eucharist at St Michaelās chapel, led by Fr Stanley. Next, an exhilarating Bible Hunt had hearts racing and minds working in teams. Afterward, the committee presented a short play titled Unseen Hands, about a sceptical boy whose friendship with a devout Catholic girl leads him to find faith in God. Gordon Jude Seneviratne one of the speaker on that day discussed on 'love your neighbour'. Following that was a heartfelt session by Ashley Cesca Shammah, titled Unconditionally: You Are Loved More Than Youāll Ever Know by Someone Who Died to Know You. On 20th December 2024 (Friday), during the usual morning assembly, the Catholic Society of St. Michaelās Institution held its first-ever Christmas Carol Celebration, filling the school with festive joy and community spirit. The morning began with a heartfelt Christmas narrative presented by Master Collin Noel, setting a warm and reflective tone for the celebration.Soon, The Arks choir, supported by skilled musicians, led the school in singing beloved Christmas carols. A highlight of the programme was the stirring duet of O Holy Night by Madam Mary Juliet and Sir Emelleo Elven Chan, which deeply moved the audience.Adding to the cheer, Santa Claus ā portrayed by Master Chow Han Yip and Master Joachims John ā walked through the crowd, handing out sweets and goody bags to teachers and students. Smiles and laughter filled the air as the festive spirit spread.The celebration continued with an energetic performance by the Michaelian Military Band, who entertained with lively renditions of All I Want for Christmas Is You and Last Christmas.The event ended on a heartfelt note with the distribution of hampers to students in need ā a meaningful gesture that reflected the love and generosity at the heart of the season. It was a morning of music, joy, and unity, marking a historic first for SMI.Ā
