What a wonderful day to end our season on Saturday 4th May at the English Schools' FA Danone Nations Cup National Finals.
The Slough Schools' FA U11 District Team attended the National Finals and were able to play on a carpet of grass at Birmingham City FC against some of the best players in the country.
The team were outstanding on the day in their play and conduct. The competition was of the highest standard and all the teams were very closely matched.
The team won their first game but unfortunately could not get a result in the next two group games (see results below).
Slough SFA 2 v South London SFA 1
Slough SFA 0 v The Wirral SFA 2
Slough SFA 0 v Nottingham SFA 1
The link below shows the tournament on the day on YouTube. You can find our first match starting at approximately 56.50 minutes, that's us having a team talk just before the start of the game.

The two group games that the boys lost were against both the Inter-Association competition finalists. Although it was little consolation to be knocked out at the group stage by coming third, it was ONLY the two best teams in the competition that they lost against. I am sure when the boys reflect they will take great pride from the fact that they only lost to the national champions by one goal (watch from 3hours 37minutes with the link above).
The boys really did enjoy the experience of playing at the Championship stadium in Birmingham despite falling at the final hurdle. I am attaching a few photographs of the day.
Thank you to our fantastic supportive parents, our Slough and Windsor schools, the English Schools FA, the sponsors Danone and all parties who have contributed to the historical success of the SSFA U11 District Team in our inaugural season.
That's all for now folks, we will say goodbye to the 2018/19 SSFA U11 District Team with very fond memories which we will remember always.
Do enjoy the summer and look forward to seeing you next season.
