Slough Schools' FA are delighted to announce that it is our intention to start an new era of district football starting in season 2017/18. The district had successful spells in the 1980s with luminaries such as Eddie Hutchinson and Alan Paris playing for the team. Since its inception in 2017 the district has continued to grow its offering of district football and the original U11 boys team has grown from playing in a one off national competition when we first started in season 2017/18, to a part time team in season 2021/22, to training and playing every week from season 2022/23 as a full time district team competing in the ESFA National Cup and Southern Counties League and Cup competitions.
The first girls team in the history of Slough SFA was created in 2021/22 in the form of the U11 Girls District Team. In the 2022/23 they grew to be a part time team and in the 2023/24 season became a full time team completing the season playing in the ESFA National Cup and Southern Counties League and Cup competitions.
With the expansion of district football into secondary schools in season 2021/22 offering the opportunity for Year 8 boys to play district football in a SSFA U13 District Team. The association then offered the opportunity for first ever secondary school girls district team in season 2023/24 in the form of an U13 girls team. The U13 girls continued into the season 2024/25 to become the first ever U14 girls team.
The Slough SFA trials for the district team are held during the summer term. Following selection the players will undergo an assessment period where the managers and coaches will be able to further understand the players aptitude and attitude, meet the prospective parents and explain the expectations and commitments required to play for the district teams.
