For the Fleet Championship, based on the best 6 of 8 results — the 4 Lake series, the Lake Fall Regatta and the 3 regattas on Salt Water, Return edged Grauer by one point, with Fancy taking 3rd.
We previously announced the Round-the-Buoys results, with Grauer Geist narrowly edging out Return with Fancy following. The closeness of the Lake racing is indicated by all the boats in the fleet had at least a 3rd place finish, and a number had 2nds and firsts. Especially notable was the continued improvement by the new crews to the fleet, Wiki Wiki and Sweet Jesus.
We hope Chris Lui gets his boat out next year. There is a new owner of Gray Goose, new to sailing, and a new SJ 24 with a blue hull is now at Leschi, just inside of the So. Leschi entrance. Haven’t found out who owns that boat yet.
I attended the get-together for Joe McNulty last night, and he is now standing with equal weight on both legs. In case you haven’t heard, he badly fractured the left side of his pelvis and left wrist/hand in a roller blading accident, trying to avoid a young bicyclist on the Burke Gillman Trail who zigged when Joe thought she would zag. His X-rays are a testament to modern orthopedics.
I have attached the results for the Fleet Championship and Salt Water trophies, in one spreadsheet, and the Round-the-Buoys championship in a second spread-sheet. Of course please contact me if you spot any errors or have any questions.
Again, congratulations to Return and its crew for a great year of sailing, and to the entire Seattle Fleet for good sailing and lots of fun.
