Lightning Add Swedish Winger Morgan Anderberg with 134th Overall Pick
The Tampa Bay Lightning continued adding to their prospect pool on the second day of the 2026 NHL Entry Draft, selecting Swedish forward Morgan Anderberg with the 134th overall pick in the fifth round.
Anderberg, who spent the 2025-26 season with Djurgårdens IF J20 in Sweden’s top junior league, brings a combination of speed, hockey IQ, and offensive upside that caught the attention of Lightning scouts. The left-shot winger has built a reputation as a responsible two-way player capable of contributing at both ends of the ice while possessing the creativity to generate scoring chances.
Standing 6-foot-1 and weighing 183 pounds, Anderberg uses his skating ability and strong puck protection to create space in the offensive zone. His consistent play throughout the season made him one of the more intriguing European forwards available entering the fifth round.
The selection fits Tampa Bay’s long-standing draft philosophy of identifying skilled players with high developmental ceilings outside the first round. General manager Julien BriseBois and the Lightning scouting staff have enjoyed considerable success uncovering NHL talent in the later rounds, and they believe Anderberg has the tools to continue that trend.
Anderberg joins a 2026 draft class that also features Russian forward Oleg Kulebyakin and Slovak defenseman Tomas Kralovic, giving the organization additional depth at multiple positions. Following the draft, Anderberg is expected to continue his development in Sweden before eventually competing for a spot in North America.
While he may still be several years away from making his NHL debut, the Lightning are confident Anderberg has the potential to become another successful addition to one of hockey’s strongest development systems.
For Tampa Bay, the 134th overall selection represents another investment in the future—and another opportunity to uncover a hidden gem in the later rounds of the NHL Draft.
