The In-Character Basics
In-Character Rules
Realism: Roleplay realistically within the world's constraints.
Names are to be Setting-appropriate.
Magic: Magic has consequences. Use it wisely.
Corruption: Conan canon corruption or other variants are not in present in our world any longer due to the events at Knight's Knoll.
Technology: The highest level of technology in our world is the classic world or high medieval fantasy.
Modern-day technology is not permitted.
Character Creation: Create original characters that fit the setting.
Combat: Combat is turn-based and requires mutual consent.
Building: Follow building rules and respect other players' builds.
Scene Consent: If a scene becomes uncomfortable, communicate. Ask to pause/halt the scene and state that you do not consent. If it is not respected, open a ticket immediately.
Fading to Black: Use this to skip explicit content while maintaining story depth. Both parties must agree.
Retconning: This is a last resort. Both/all parties must agree to change or remove a scene. Retconning can include altering the scene or erasing it entirely. A Retcon is not always possible.
Metagaming: The best way to keep a secret about your character, is to tell no one. Do not Metagame using information that you did not find out in character yourself. If you found out OOCly, you cannot know it IC. Period.
Training of skills ingame: Training of skills ingame takes time, mastery takes longer. We expect realism in such growth.
Undead Character Creation: Undead characters will now be introduced as second or third characters, allowing for a deeper understanding of the world before taking on such a complex role. Existing undead characters will remain unaffected.
Necromancy: We have a temporary hold on the creation of necromancer characters who focus primarily on raising the dead. Raise Dead or/Creation of Undead is not permitted by
Naming Conventions, Shapeshift, Disguise, Illusion Rules
Identify Yourself: When using /act to change your character's name, include your real character name in brackets.
Disguises: Use the "Disguised" status for physical or magical disguises. Give other players a chance to see through your disguise.
Natural Abilities: If your character has natural shapeshifting abilities, use them without the "Disguised" status, unless you're concealing your identity. Such abilities must be submitted and approved during character creation.
Disguising as Others: You may disguise yourself as your own thrall. Disguising as other players' characters or NPCs requires their consent.
Do not take on the appearance of Conan Lore Characters.
Limited Consent: Consent for disguises is not permanent. Specify a duration for each disguise.
RP Redux PvP Combat Rules
Beginning Combat
Sometimes roleplay leads to combat, whether it's a sudden conflict or something arising over time, it's important to follow rules and basic courtesies to keep the roleplay, and fight, fun for parties involved. All RP Redux PVP combat on Severed Fates is turn-based and follows mutual consent.
PVP Intent
If roleplay leads to combat, the aggressor must indicate their intent to initiate PVP by either rolling initiative or including (PVP INTENT) as part of their post. The Defender must then choose one of two options and declare it with their next post, (roll initiative to PVP ACCEPT or PVP FLEE). (RP PAUSE) and (RP RESUME) may be used if OOC communication is needed during this time, though abusing it may result in administrative punishment.
If roleplay leads to combat at a hub or a hub hosted event, the clan hosting can remove both PVP participants from the clan property or ask them to fight in a certain location.
This is the time to establish if you are fighting to 3 hits, until someone flees, someone reaches zero (0) hp, or what the specific stopping point will be for the fight.
PVP Flee
If the defender wishes not to participate for any reason, they may choose to flee. If the defender flees, they must exit immediately after their flee post and remain out of the area for 2 hours.
PVP Accept
If a player consents to accept combat, open your RPR sheet, go to the abilities tab and roll initiative. This will put you into combat status.
PVP Fairness
Stacking against other players is not allowed, and a maximum ratio of one extra person on either side may occur. (E.g 1v2, 2v3, 3v4, etc.)
During Combat
Players will take turns going in the order of the initiative, highest to lowest.
Hit Points (HP) are calculated based on how you completed your RPR sheet. Players are responsible for maintaining their own HP/MP (Mana Points) through resting. Players should not rest without consent of all parties involved prior to a fight.
Players can move, attack, and drink a potion on their turn.
Players may move up to three (3) foundations. This should be tracked using the track movement distance button (feet with a line to an ‘x’) on the RPR sheet.
All rolls should have an accompanying post that follows the RP rules.
Players must only write their own actions and attempts, you may not write how the attack affects the other player. Players are expected to keep their attacks and defenses as realistic as possible, with successful attacks reflected in wounds to their character.
If any player reaches zero (0) HP, they are knocked out.
Death instead of knocked out must be agreed up prior to the combat starting and documented with screenshots. Screenshots of the death consent between players should be submitted via ticket along with a screenshot of the outcome of the fight so that Staff is aware.
Turn Order
Each player will need to click start turn at the beginning of their turn, complete the actions they wish to take (move, attack, potion) and click end turn once they are done with their turn.
Attacks are located in the ability section of your RPR sheet and are based on the class you selected. If you are wanting to grapple/wrestle, please see the grapple and wrestling section for instructions.
If the wrong target is selected during a fight, Staff may correct the effect (adjust HP and MP) and allow a player to redo their turn. Allowing a player to redo their turn does not reset the cool down of the ability. Please note, that if Staff is not present at the fight you may PM current Staff online to see if they are available to correct the mistake.
The defender posts the reaction based on the success or failure of their opponent's attack on their turn and includes their attack as well as any additional actions taken.
Healing/Mana Restoration
1 (one) potion of each type (lesser, medium, or high healing/mana potion) can be used within a 12 hour period.
Players need to purchase and carry potions on them, to be able to use them during combat. Potions can be purchased from Elara at Knight’s Knoll.
Grappling and Wrestling
Players will still start and end their turns while grappling even if they aren’t using any abilities.
Aggressor’s athletics roll versus defenders athletics or acrobatics roll. Defenders can use abilities in place of their athletic/acrobatics roll but it counts as a failed defensive roll.
Three (3) successful offensive athletic checks in a row equals a pin.
Please keep in mind that RP dice combat can be time-consuming.
Limit one's posts to two to three lines, in order to facilitate faster combat.
Whenever a player loses all their Health Points (HP), the fight is concluded and normal RP resumes.
Dice rolls that result in a tie go to the defender.
After Combat
All players should Drop Combat and Cleanse Combat Effects, once combat is over.
By default, when one player defeats another in combat, the defeated player should enable the “Injured” status. This status should be maintained until they have rested (common:rest on abilities tab) or been healed via rp or potion. Knocked out characters, if left where they fall, will awaken with all personal items and no additional actions taken against them.
Involved players may choose, of mutual agreement, to decide on a different set of consequences.
An OOC dialog should then be reopened between the parties about any agreed-upon consequences for the losing party, and how to apply them fairly.
Remember that consent is paramount, if no fair agreement can be reached between the involved parties, the default punishment will apply.
Storyline events can be run by staff, storytellers or members with approval. For members wanting to run events, please check out the guide for member run events on the website.
The player running the event can change any of the defaults for their event only. If nothing has been mentioned the defaults should be used by participants.
Event Defaults
Players should arrive at the scene organically unless a way point has been set up specifically for the event.
Players should not rest immediately prior to the event or once the event starts without permission from the event host.
Players will take turns going in the order of initiative rolled, highest to lowest.
Once initiative is rolled, the scene is closed to additional arrivals. A player may ask the person hosting the event if they may join. If a player is unable to join the event, they are more than welcome to watch but must mark themselves as OOC.
If there is no movement or indication that you are typing after 5 minutes of your turn starting, the host may move to the next person in the initiative order. This is to keep the flow of combat going.
Players may move up to three (3) foundations on their turn.
If any player reaches zero (0) HP, they are knocked out.
