Adjustable Lighting Tutorial
Lighting your clan build, city, or personal home in Conan can sometimes be frustrating. We have put forth a step-by-step guide with the reasons ‘why’ so that choosing these light sources is a good fit.
Adjustable lighting is ideal because we are trying to help reduce server fps and client-side lag for those playing on older systems. There are ways to improve and this is one of them.
In our example, we use the Shemite hanging wall lantern by Exiles Extreme.
After hanging the lamp, hold E on the lamp and then select the Exiles Extreme Icon.
This window pops up.
Intensity will make the light unrealistic and blind you. Do not go above 10 on intensity.
If you are just starting out, avoid changing the intensity unless it is to lower it. Lower it in increments of 2 as that is how it works.
Color is important to change right away. If you adjust the radius or intensity and leave the color in its original format, the light glitches out like a rabid set of high beams on the highway.
Always change the base color of the light.
Blues can wash out other colors.
Purples, Pinks, & Reds can be Dramatic.
Greens can look Evil & Dark themed.
Yellow can look unnatural.
With these things in mind, play with the color options until it suits your preference.
Radius is your Bread & Butter!! It is the key to good lighting without having to utilize 34 lamps. A 10k radius can potentially light an entire home.
Try not to let the light touch the water. Reducing the radius and moving the light source just out of range of the water will help keep stuttering and rubber banding at bay in your build..
Immersing light sources in the water or having them overlap a lot will be noticable.
The light vendor in the market stocks many varieties of adjustable light sources.
