Manly station opened in 1888 as the original terminus of the line. The line was extended to Cleveland in 1889. In 1913, the line was duplicated from Murarrie to Manly. On 1 November 1960, the line was truncated to Lota. On 15 October 1983, the line was electrified from Park Road to Thorneside. The line reopened from Thorneside to Wellington Point on 26 July 1986 and to Cleveland in 1987. In 1992, the original timber station was demolished as it was infested by termites.
Manly serves the homonymous suburb of Manly which was named after the beachside suburb in Sydney.
Manly station has two platforms consisting of an island platform. Platform 1 is for outbound services and platform 2 is for inbound services.
Manly station has three station entrances. Two are from the carpark on Yamboyna Street and one is from the carpark on New Road
Manly station does have disability access.
There are bus stops nearby on Ernest Street serving nearby suburbs. The routes that serve Manly are routes 223, 224 and N226.
