The original Wellington Point station opened in 1889, when the line was extended from Manly. On 1 November 1960, the line was truncated to Lota. The station was reopened on 26 July 1986, as the interim terminus until it was rebuilt to Cleveland on 24 October 1987.
Wellington Point serves the homonymous suburb of Wellington Point which was named after the Duke of Wellington.
Wellington Point station has two platforms consisting of an island platform. Platform 1 is for outbound services and platform 2 is for inbound services.
Wellington Point station has two station entrances. One is from the walkway to Station Street and one is from the carpark on Harris Street.
Wellington Point station does have disability access however assistance is required due to the steep ramp.
