Buranda station opened in 1889 as Logan Road. On 17 June 1912, the line from Park Road to Murarrie. It was renamed Buranda in 1917. On 15 October 1983, the line was electrified from Park Road to Thorneside. In the early hours of 29 March 2009, the main station building was destroyed by fire and a 17-year old man was charged with arson following the incident.
Buranda station is named after the homonymous locality of Buranda. “Buran” is the indigenous word for wind and “da” means place, so place of wind.
Buranda station two side platforms. Platform 1 is for outbound services and platform 2 is for inbound services.
Buranda station has two entrances. One is on Gillingham Street and the other is on Arne Street.
Buranda doesn’t have any disability access.
