In a groundbreaking achievement, Woodside Energy Group Ltd. has commenced maiden production in the Sangomar field, marking Senegal’s first offshore petroleum development to go onstream. Located approximately 100 kilometers (62.1 miles) south of Dakar, Sangomar holds proven and probable reserves of 230 million barrels of crude. The initial phase involves producing up to 100,000 barrels per day through the Léopold Sédar Senghor floating production, storage, and offloading vessel. This milestone underscores Senegal’s emergence as a major hydrocarbon-producing nation, and the crude quality, expected to be around 31 degrees API, is in demand in European and Asian markets. Woodside’s successful execution demonstrates its world-class project capability, and Senegal’s unwavering commitment to this complex endeavor sets the stage for further growth and innovation in the nation’s energy landscape
