Texas Ramps Project

The Texas Ramps Project

Have you ever had the opportunity to dramatically change a person’s life in a few hours? The Texas Ramp Project (TRP) does it hundreds of times a year across Texas!  And volunteers from First Methodist Church are doing it here locally every month.  We build ADA accessible ramps for disabled or elderly people who can’t afford to buy one.  In a few hours on a Friday morning, we give these folks the freedom to leave and re-enter their home again—the home where they want to remain but whose steps have imprisoned them.

Typically, volunteers from First Methodist Church build a ramp about once a month.  We usually build the ramps on a Friday morning and it takes about 3 hours to get a new ramp built.  We also operate the TRP warehouse for Guadalupe County and pre-build/assemble the materials for 4 other volunteer groups in Guadalupe County.  If you are interested in volunteering with the warehouse efforts, building the ramps, or both, please contact the church office.  They will get you in contact with the lead person for this program.

If you want to learn more about the State organization, please visit their web-site at https://www.texasramps.org.  There is also a process on their web-page if you or someone you know needs to “Request a Ramp”.  Please note that the ramp request must be completed by a healthcare professional, physical therapist, etc.  The individual does not complete or submit the request.
