Feed the Hungry

At First Methodist Church we take feeding the hungry seriously. Please take a moment to check out the ways in which we do this important ministry. If you would like to help as a volunteer in one of these ministries please contact the church office at 830-379-4112.

Thanksgiving Dinners:

Prior to Thanksgiving each year, First Methodist Church partners with HEB to provide meals for about 150 local families in need.   First Methodist Church has a donation drive in early November to cover the basic cost of the meals.  Then a group of volunteers goes to HEB and prepares the bag of groceries.  First Methodist Church also prints and distributes the meal vouchers to local families as needed.  The families can then go to HEB on the specified days and redeem their voucher for the items to make a full traditional Thanksgiving meal for their family.  Any unclaimed meals are picked up by First Methodist Church volunteers and either distributed by the Church to families in need or donated to the Christian Cupboard.

The Christian Cupboard:

Located at 516 N. Camp Street, Seguin, Texas – The Christian Cupboard provides groceries for those in need. First Methodist Church supports the Cupboard with donations of food and money. Food Donations can be taken directly to the Christian Cupboard or can be dropped off at the Church Office.  As well, volunteers are always needed at the Cupboard to stock shelves and fill bags.
