Community Outreach

Trunk or Treat:

Each year on October 31st (Halloween), members and guests of First Methodist Church will host the Trunk or Treat event.  The event is held in the large parking lot.  Participants arrive early to park their vehicle and decorate it for the event.  The vehicles are arranged to allow for the communities families to wander through the parking lot and visit each vehicle as a safe way for “trick or treating” on Halloween.  Leading up to Oct 31st each year, donations for candy are requested and bins are placed in the sanctuary, CLC, and church office entrances. Monetary donations are also accepted – please designate on the check or envelope that the funds are a Trunk or Treat donation.

Hygiene Product Collection/Distribution:

First Methodist Church regularly receives requests from individuals for basic hygiene products.  As needed, we will conduct a donation drive to replenish our supplies.  The donation drive is typically done once a year.

The Missions Team also engages with the community in a variety of activities through individual contacts, community organizations, local school districts, etc.  These community outreach events occur both locally and statewide on an as needed basis.
