Missions
We all have different gifts of the Spirit. Our time, talents, and resources are not the same. And the many needs of the world present endless opportunities for all to Serve God’s people.
Within the walls of this church, we embark on numerous missions aimed at spreading compassion, kindness, and aid to those who need it most. Fueled by our collective desire to positively impact the world, these missions serve as beacons of hope in a sometimes dark and tumultuous world. Through our combined efforts, we strive to alleviate suffering, promote justice, and uplift the marginalized.
Listed below are just a few examples of the missions supported by our congregation, each representing a tangible manifestation of our commitment to living out the teachings of Christ:
Home In a Week
Wednesday Food Pantry
Thanksgiving Turkey Handout with H.E.B
Angel Tree With South Texas Pregnancy Center
Texas Ramps Program
Operation Christmas Child
Food Pantry: In partnership with local organizations and volunteers, our food pantry endeavors to combat hunger and food insecurity within our community. Through the provision of essential groceries, we strive to ensure that no individual or family goes to bed hungry, fostering a sense of dignity and belonging for all. Bags of groceries are available during our weekly assistance program which is held each Wednesday from 10:30 am-12:30 pm.
Hygiene Products: Access to basic hygiene products is essential for maintaining health and well-being, yet many individuals and families struggle to afford these necessities. Through our hygiene products initiative, we seek to bridge this gap by providing essential toiletries and personal care items to those in need, promoting dignity and self-esteem in the process. Hygiene products are available during our weekly assistance program which is held each Wednesday from 10:30 am-12:30 pm
Texas Ramps Project: Mobility is a fundamental aspect of human dignity, yet for many individuals with disabilities or mobility challenges, navigating their environment can be fraught with obstacles. Through our partnership with the Texas Ramps Project, we work to construct wheelchair ramps for those in our community who require assistance, enabling them to move freely and independently within their homes and communities.
Home in a Week: The lack of affordable housing remains a pressing issue in many communities, forcing countless individuals and families into unstable living conditions or homelessness. Through our Home in a Week initiative, we join forces with them and other organizations to build affordable, sustainable housing for those in need, providing them with a safe and stable place to call home.
Disaster Shelter Site: In times of natural disasters or emergencies, the need for temporary shelter and assistance becomes paramount. Through our disaster shelter site initiative, we work to establish safe and secure shelter locations equipped with essential resources and support services, offering refuge and aid to those displaced by crisis.
Each of these missions, and many others like them, represents a tangible expression of our faith and our commitment to serving God's people with love, compassion, and integrity. As we continue to journey together as a church community, may we remain steadfast in our dedication to these missions, striving always to be vessels of hope and healing in a world yearning for redemption and restoration.
