Ringed seals

Baltic ringed seals occur in the Bothnian Bay, Gulf of FInland and Gulf of Riga. The population is far below historical population sizes. It is also vulnerable to warmer winters as they depend on stable ice for breeding. We have estimated that 1 degree warmer weather on average the comming 100 years will delimit the population far below historical levels (See Sundqvist et al 2012).
