Daire runs a research program on Baltic grey seal, investigating how pup body mass vary between years and how pup survival is affected by female condition and climate. Daire has also set up risk assessment model (PVA) for grey seals that is published in Journal of Animal Ecology LINK.

Daire has also developed a software that estimate the length and size of harbour seals from digital photos. This method is currently refined to be included in annual monitoring of the population. LINK.
