SO, THIS IS LOVE...
SO, THIS IS LOVE...
I never understood the people that has their dream place or being attached to the same country and going there over and over again. Until, I got the chance to go in Thailand and fell in love. No matter how long I think about the perfect word to describe it, I could not pin the word to it. Within that one month, I slowly found myself indulged with their system, culture, food, language, and places. I never found myself wanting to go back to a place just to breathe.

First stop, Wat Phothisomphon.
It is probably the most important temple in Udon Thani city and famous for its teachings, especially on meditation. The main element of this Buddhist complex under royal patronage is the the Phra Borommathat Thamma Chedi, a pagoda built on the occasion of the 80th birthday of King Rama IX.
We were in awe to see the exquisite design from the smallest to biggest details. Moreover, the sacredness of the place make you feel at ease. Wherein one can reflect and just rest in a peaceful environment.
The details was so magnificent that everyone would want to just breathe and take a lot of pictures. Moreover, it holds a lot of stories that would boil down to the rich culture of Thailand.
Second stop, Udon Thani Museum.
For our next destination, we went to Udon Thani City Museum. Udon Thani Museum is a learning center and also publishes the background of Udon Thani. The importance of the museum as a source of learning is to provide content and knowledge with the cultural heritage, history, archeology, art, culture, and tradition, including lifestyle of Udon Thani people from the past to the present. Here, we got to immersed ourselves in the culure and heritage of Udon Thani. Furthermore, we appreciated the learning of culture and really indulging ourselves with Udon Thani.
Third stop, Thai-Chinese Cultural Centre .
It is located on 39 San Chao Neramit Road behind the Udon Thani Railway Station, Tambon Mak Khaeng. It was established to serve as a centre for the conservation of traditional arts, culture, way of life, and philosophy of the Thai-Chinese people in Udon Thani.
Thus, this day was so insightful and it was a wonderful experience to widen our perspective to different nationalities; their history and culture.
Moreover, we got to taste thai food from a Michelin restaurant which added some zing to the experience for that day. Indeed, knowing different backgrounds heals our soul and we definitely needed to travel to learn and learn.

National Museum of Ban Chiang
Another tour around the City with Mr. Phet and our UDRU buddies. We had two places scheduled for this day; National Museum of Ban Chiang and Learning Center for Pottery Molding and Painting.
First stop the National Museum of Ban Chiang. Ban Chiang National museum, also known as Ban Chiang Archaeological Site, is located in Nong Han district of Udon Thani province. The site became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in December 1992.
The museum has two parts to it. The first part is for antiques. Here you find anything associated with the ancient Culture of Ban Chiang. We can see ancient tools, household items, artifacts, and pottery items, many of which are over 4,000 years old. All artifacts are showcased very beautifully so that visitors can get as much information as possible about the ancient culture.
Learning Center for Pottery Molding and Painting
Those who interested in Southeast Asian archaeology may well have heard of the famous Ban Chiang pottery found in the northeastern region of Thailand. These ancient artifacts date back almost 5,000 years old, and their outstanding international importance has eventually led to UNESCO recognizing Ban Chiang as a World Heritage Site in 1992.
We were able to learn pottery making which is also similar to burnay in Vigan City. Moreover, we also painted and molded our own pot and made a souvenir for this trip. Is was a fulling day to know these places that are historic in Thailand. Indeed, cultural immersion brings a whole new perspective of things and places.

Phu Foi Lom National Park
Saturday is another day to explore the beauty of Thailand. Just like the other Saturdays, teacher Phet brought us to a place near Udon Thani. We got to see the mersmerizing Phu Foi Lom National Park.
This ecotourism site is located in Pa Phan Don Pakho National Forest Reserve, covering an area of 192,350 rai on the Phu Phan Noi Range in Tambon Thap Kung. It is considered as one of the best nature study centres of the Northeast region: there are demonstration beds of plants, the Garden of Wild Plants in Celebration of Her Majesty the Queen’s Sixtieth Birthday Anniversary and a viewpoint overlooking Udon Thani town.
We also had lunch there already and the food was scrumptious. It really amazes me to have a taste of thai foods. Moreover, it was a wonderful day to spend with teacher Phet and co-SEA teacher participant.
