TEACHING PLAN
TEACHING PLAN
Based on the given topic to me by my cooperating teacher, Ms. Phobe Jane Perez, I had to make an inquiry-based instructional plan for my demonstration. Inquiry-based learning is a learning process that engages students by making real-world connections through exploration and high-level questioning. I was given the topic Electromagnetic Waves. Hence, as the practice in the Philippines, I did the chunking of topics which then the reason why I only focused on radio waves.
This instructional plan is based on the 5E Model which has the segments engage, explore, explain, elaborate, and evaluate.
"How does the radar system help maritime transport?" is the inquiry question that will guide the students throughout the learning kit. This will help them make sense what is the topic all about.
In order for the students to have a sense of connectedness, I contextualized the first part. Hence, the engage part consist of a vignette about the "Titanic". Most of the students know this movie and hence they can easily answer the guide questions that will direct them to explore.
For the main activity, PhET simulation was used in order for the students to see how radio system works. Including the variables that affect it, such as frequency, wavelength, and amplitude.
Explain consisted of guide questions in order for the students to understand what they have investigated in the simulation.
Moreover, for the students to apply the concept that they have learned, elaborate presented an activity to widen the acquired knowledge. In this segment, a video was presented on what material blocks radio waves.
While the evaluation part had four multiple questions tackling the discussed concept.
