Shumoos was a student at Green River College. During summer 2023, she worked with her PhD student mentor Morgan to synthesize and study polymers for up-cyclization.
Shumoos reflected that the SCROCCS 2023 program gave her the experience she needed to qualify her for more opportunities she would otherwise not have been able to pursue. Being in the lab gave her the chance to observe a various fascinating projects and she always felt welcome.

Ashley was a student at Highline Community College. During summer 2023, she worked with her Ph.D. student mentor Emily to synthesize doped metal oxide nanoparticles for studying catalysis.
Ashley reflected that the SCROCCS 2023 program gave her the opportunity to work with lots of great people, make new friends, and also learn a lot about nanoscience, including XRD and TEM techniques.
