Meet Our 2022 Cohort
Zak was a student at North Seattle Community college. During summer 2022, he worked with his Ph.D. student mentor Christine to synthesize a compound called CB6 through ring expansion metathesis polymerization.
Zak reflected that the SCROCCS 2022 program gave him the opportunity to make "connections with other grad students and professors, get lab experience at a R1 school and learn directly from grad students". He also enjoyed "learning how to do new experiments, using instruments, having fun in lab, and understanding the environment and daily life of a grad student".
Parvye was a student at Seattle Central College. He joined the Cossairt lab in June 2022. His project focused on surface chemistry of colloidal InP quantum dots for applications in lighting and display technology.
He shared that, his highlights of the SCROCCS 2022 program "include learning air-free synthesis, NMR, and listening to grad students discuss science beyond my understanding" and specially "made some cool new friends".
