The fifth discussion was held by Bryan Lim who is one of the Core Members of the Scienz Society.
The discussion started with the historic meaning and role of lights in ancient Greece and then proceeded to briefly explain the different abilities of light. In explaining each property that light has, there was an informative slide accompanied with simple descriptions where Bryan commented on the mechanisms behind these abilities. Then, it was followed by an explanation of two identities of the light and a concept related to the two states: wave-particle duality. Next, it linked to the next stage of the presentation about the practical side of the science of lights, such as Young’s Double Slit Experiment and the photoelectric effect. Questions were introduced and allowed to be discussed by the participants which were greatly enjoyed.
It was the first discussion to focus on the physics side of science and had many inputs from various students, including students who are well versed in physics and related science. The discussion included a few comedic moments which was both entertaining and humoured the challenging concepts in this discussion.
