After a busy and pandemic-ridden summer break, we have finally reached our first session in this new academic year! It was exciting seeing one or two new faces.
Our discussion was accompanied by a few extracts of the documentary ‘My Octopus Teacher’ to start off the year. The ways in which an octopus camouflages themselves was covered, with different participants thinking of ways an octopus can change the colour of their skin. One creatively thought of cells that can switch pigments, another thought of the number of pigmented cells. The answer from our research concluded that it was due to the size of pigmented cells. However, I was pleased with how people could think of different ways this could happen.
