Traditional Chinese Medicine

The ScienZ society held its second session today, led by one of the core members, Chris. Many attended the session to discuss the main question, ‘what is the scientific basis of TCM, and how can it be integrated into western medicine.’ It began with an informative presentation on Traditional Chinese Medicine, where he enlightened us on the several branches of TCM, including acupuncture, Tai Chi and the actual medicinal herbs used. This was followed by an open discussion with the attendees. The discussion, just to name a few, delved into topics such as the scientific basis behind TCM concepts, such as the ‘Qi’ and ‘Yin Yang’, the fundamental differences between Chinese and western medicine, and if western medicine would ever be able to coexist with TCM.
