Students will attempt to pull the teacher in a plastic laundry basket on a variety of surfaces to determine which surface has the lowest and highest amount of friction between the surface and laundry bin. 

Materials: 

1) 1 laundry bin or plastic bin to fit the teacher 

2) school flooring 

3) Large Carpet (usually found in the front entry of the school)

4) Large piece of wood (big enough to move the bin on) 

5) Students holding the corners of sliding surface in place 

6) String or rope for the students to pull (this is tied to the bin) 

Extension: 

• Place the laundry bin on wheel or scooter boards to reinforce the idea that wheels (a simple machine) make the task of moving the teacher much easier.
