Max 1 group/team graded assignment per course.
Group/team membership will ideally be 4 students, with a group maximum of 5.
A maximum of 15% of grade weighing will be assigned for the presentation component, other activities may be assigned related to the presentation and have their own evaluation weighting.
Every group/team assignment or presentation will have an individual portion to the assignment that will be graded and will be identified in the rubric. The individual student portion of the assignment may include the completion of a peer evaluation, presentation performance, submission of assignment on time, role of group/team member and outline of group/team meetings.
Resources are available on the Learn@Seneca site allowing students to share information and may be used to demonstrate evidence of collaboration with group members.
It is recommended students submit a copy of their final presentation and identify their individual written contributions 24hrs before the assignment is due.
Where applicable the student will submit a draft of the presentation and their individual work. Faculty will identify dates for drafts and final submission of group/teamwork or presentations.
Group/Team members will identify their portion of the assignment they individually completed for grading.
Description of the presentation assignment and/or group assignment will contain the Group/Teamwork statement about ‘Seneca Student Conduct’ and 'CNO Code of Conduct' related to appropriate behaviours of working within a group.
Recommendation for students to create, date and sign a group contract/team charter describing the workings and conflict resolution process. An example or template is available for students to follow.
Student removal from their group/team will follow the criteria outlined in the ‘Seneca Student Conduct’ policy. https://www.senecacollege.ca/about/policies/student-code-of-conduct.html
All courses that include group/teamwork assignments will reinforce the strategies for successful teamwork and collaboration prior to the students completing assignments or presentations.
Faculty will provide some time during class for groups/teams to work together when possible.
Faculty will identify for students which option for presenting is required for their course/evaluation: in person or to complete a video presentation to be shown during class time or alternative.
