Group/Teamwork is an essential part of being a nurse. The CNO identifies teamwork and collaboration as an entry to practice competency. Therefore, all students are required to present with their group/team members on the date assigned by their faculty. Only under extraordinary circumstances will the group/team present on an alternate day assigned to their class peers or faculty.
Like any skill - working well as a team is a skill that only gets better with practice.
Before starting your group/teamwork every student must review the Seneca Student Code of Conduct at: https://www.senecacollege.ca/about/policies/student-code-of-conduct.html and the CNO Code of Conduct at: www.cno.org/en/protect-public/code-of-conduct-for-nurses/ .
All group/team members must comply with these codes and always conduct themselves in a professional manner, being respectful in all communication.
All group/team members will make every effort to work collaboratively to make responsible decisions about their behaviour and communications and work to resolve conflicts and differences, as identified in the ‘Group Contract or Team Charter’ created by the group/team members.
Any disorderly or disruptive behaviour, abusive or intimidating communications, sexual violence, discrimination, or harassment, will be considered a violation of the code of conduct (Student) and code of conduct (CNO). Any student/s involved in such behaviour will be reported to the Student Code of Conduct Office for guidance and support.
Because Teamwork is a CNO Entry to Practice Competency - Accommodation can not excuse you from participating. Accommodation can only support your participation as a team member.
