Own the stoke with a day on the best runs east of the Rockies!
Mont Tremblant ski resort sits at 875 meters (2,871 feet) in the Laurentians in Quebec. There are 102 ski trails (81.9 km or 50.8 miles, with 22 green, 32 blue, and 49 black and double black diamond) on 4 faces - each offering different conditions and views of the region. Its longest trail, the Nansen, is skiable by beginners but long and challenging enough to be enjoyed by even seasoned skiers. The mountain has over 1,200 snow guns - in case it doesn't snow quite enough! - and is serviced by 14 lifts.
For those who prefer even more adventure, Tremblant has 3 snowparks for freestylers of all levels.
The Pedestrian Village, which is serviced by a cabriolet in both directions for tired feet, has something for everyone - not just skiers, snowboarders or outdoor-adventurists! There is a wide variety of shops, restaurants, cafes, and apres-ski spots. Activities include mini-golf, mountain biking, a virtual reality arcade, street-luge, a climbing tower, fishing, dune-buggying, go-carting, paintball, canoeing and kayaking, rafting, rock climbing, and tours into Parc Tremblant (a national park). Winter-specific activities include ice-skating, alpine touring, dog-sledding, ice climbing, ice fishing on Lac Tremblant, sledding (aka "sliding"), snowmobiling, snowshoeing, tubing, and cross-country skiing. And don't miss the horse-drawn-sleigh ride through the forest, where you can snuggle under blankets sipping hot chocolate while being entertained by a story-telling and singing driver so lively and quick, it might just be Saint Nick (my hope for you is that your driver doesn't look like Bonhomme, the world's creepiest carnival mascot who is literally the stuff of nightmares).
Surrounding the Village and available in close proximity to the chalet are a beach and tennis club, a delightful Scandinavian spa (scroll down!), casino, several golf courses (Le Geant, Le Diable, Le Maitre, Manitou, La Bete), ziplining and aerial adventures, heli-touring, and other adventure activities. Ever been falconing? Because you can do that here! It's a real thing! And in sap season (yes, it's a thing), make time to venture out to collect maple sap at a local sugar shack where, conveniently, they are more than happy to sell you a wide variety of maple-y treats!
The Scandinave Spa, about 4 minutes away, offers exquisite massages and access to hot and cold pools, as well as wood-burning outdoor fires and warm, toasty beverages! Booking is easy on the Scandinave Spa website, and access to the pools is always included!
Action Tremblant provides a host of summer and winter activities, including snowmobiling, dogsledding, ziplining, and dune-buggy tours. They even have a mini-farm with alpacas, goats, bunnies, and pettable pigs!
Parc Omega, roughly 50 minutes from the chalet, is a 2,200 acre wildlife preserve that is home to 20 species of native animals. Here, you can drive through and feed various deer, caribou, and wild boars. There are also bison (not allowed to pet them), wolves (not allowed to pet them), bears (not allowed to pet them), and moose (not allowed to pet them).
Book your visit online, and make sure to stop at the store for bags of carrots so you can feed the deer and caribou from the (relative) safety of your vehicle!
This old-school sugar shack still uses simple taps and buckets to harvest its maple sap! A small, family-run operation, La Cabane a Tuque invites guests to strap on some snowshoes to hike out and pull buckets, which are then turned - eventually! - into maple syrup. (Did you know that it takes 40 gallons of maple sap to make 1 gallon of maple syrup?) From February to April, you can book time to not only harvest some sap, but sit down for a delightful meal at the hempcrete-insulated house!
Need a down day? Spent a little too much time in the woods and need something more civilized? This indoor waterpark, with 4 slides and 35 water features, is a great way to hang with the family, away from all of that pesky nature!
If you've had enough of the mountains, venture an hour and a half south to the fantabulous ile of Montreal! Restaurants that would make any foodie's stomach sing. Museums that boast world-class collections. Historical sites that will make parents feel like their kids actually learned something, even though they were on vacation! You'll find all of that - and more - in Montreal!
If you somehow manage to become bored of skiing Mont Tremblant, check out Mont-Blanc!
Mont-Blanc is the "the best-kept secret" of the Laurentians, with 43 trails, 3 hill-slides, 2 snowparks and "impeccable ski conditions at all times". Mont-Blanc has 24 black and double-black diamond runs on three faces (8 of which are mogul runs), making it an outstanding option for skiers and snowboarders looking for a challenge.
