Hello and welcome! I am Prof. O. (Jennifer Ounjian), and I am one of your adjunct faculty members at MCC in the Social Sciences Department. I grew up in Fresno and have lived in Los Angeles, Oakland (North, East, and West), San Pablo, El Sobrante, and Richmond. I currently live between Fresno with two of my three kids, our pittie Kane, and 2.5 cats (one only comes around to eat) and El Cerrito (Bay Area.)
Please refer to me as Professor O.
I have been working in higher education for the past 25 years in a variety of capacities, including Senior Academic Manager for Student Life and Outreach, Director for College for Kids, TRiO program coordinator, and for the last 15 years as a professor! In addition to teaching at MCC, I am a full-time tenured psychology professor and department chair at Contra Costa College in the East Bay.
I have also worked as a therapist for adults, couples, and groups, specializing in psychodynamic and Gestalt techniques, treatment of sexual dysfunction, psychological testing and assessment, and sand-tray therapy. My research interests include the development of racial identity for multi-racial adolescents, decolonizing psychology and counseling,
I have three kids, ages 25 (a Fresno State student majoring in Psychology), 23 (an electrician apprentice), and 17 (student-athlete).
A little about me...
I try to stay off the SNKRS app (I'm a low-key sneakerhead)
I cultivate (and sometimes kill) a garden where I grow a variety of vegetables, herbs, flowers, and interesting plants.
I also scroll FB/IG/TikTok and watch a few TV shows. Just finished The Pitt. I'm still trying to find something new.
I love a good cup of coffee. My favorite foods are yalanchi and pupusas.
I look forward to getting to know you as we travel through the world of Psychology or Ethnic Studies!
Prof. O.
