The Science Constituency Council (SCC) serves as a representative council for College of Science students and their organizations. We serve as the bridge that connects students and faculty in the College of Science (COS).
The SCC's missions are to advocate for the interests and needs of all science students and to build a diverse scientific community at UTA. We actively work with the COS to address student concerns and advocate for student's needs. We connect students with faculty, organizations, and with several resources both at and outside of UTA. We constantly seek feedback from COS students on any changes they want to see.
Our goal is to provide events and programs that help students find careers, opportunities, and community. The SCC is here to listen to you and to help you succeed in the College of Science.
We advocate and provide a voice for students. Any COS student can raise concerns and propose legislation, resolutions, and policy changes. We then take action on these issues. Please see our proposals and resolutions list.
Our student leaders, officers and ambassadors directly work with College of Science adminstrators to plan events and gather resources that improve the experiences of all College of Science and STEM students.
Connect with professors and students from all different scientific disciplines and explore different career paths and professions across all of STEM.
Just show up to an event! Whether that's a council meeting or social event. You are welcomed at any time!
All COS students are members already! The SCC is the representative council that represents you! Everyone can participate in College of Science or SCC events!Â

All COS students are members already! The SCC is the representative council that represents you! Everyone can participate in College of Science or SCC events!Â
All COS students can submit ideas, write legislation, and participate in council meetings.
If you want to be part of our leadership team, please say tuned for applications through our social media and newsletter!
There are NO membership fees! 😀 Joining the SCC is fun and it's free!
Our plan is to have monthly council meetings where we, as a student population, address concerns and work to implement our legislation. Anyone is welcomed to come and work with us and other COS administrators.
We are still in the process of planning events for the Fall 2026. These events will be in collaboration with the College of Science. Events will include networking mixers, and workshops.
In collaboration with the College of Science, we host both professional and social events for the purpose of helping you as a student grow academically and socially.Â
The SCC has done workshops on getting into Research, Professor Seminars and our annual Discussions with the Dean event. We also volunteer with events like Orientations, Student Panels, and helping local high school students.Â
We will also let you know about other STEM student organizations and encourage you to attend those too!
We also provide resources if you cannot attend the event. They will be posted on this website.
Yes! The goal with the SCC is for you to get to know STEM students and faculty from several disciplines. By networking and talking to people, we hope that you will be able to better get a research opportunity.Â
We invite professors to give talks about their research and we invite the Office of Undergradute Research to give presentations.Â
Our plan is also to provide you with opportunities outside of UTA such internships or research on other campuses. Check out your discipline's tab page on this website to learn more about each science research lab at UTA.
No worries! The plan is to upload slides, notes, etc. for each of our events here on this website and in our Teams for you.Â
Join the Teams channel to join events virtually if you can!Â
Additionally, the SCC will also share other STEM org events at UTA through our Instagram/GroupMe and maybe you can make it to one of those!
See our "Resources" tab for even more resources, internships and further details! We have discipline specific resources as well.
