Our goal is to serve the College of Science community. All events are open to everyone regardless of major, but College of Science students, staff and faculty are encouraged to participate.
We plan to host open meetings and discussions with the Dean. During these discussions, we will address community concerns within the college and plan actionable steps as a science council.
Have a concern or want to contact us? Please email us at scc.uta.cos@gmail.com or fill out our advocacy form.
We are also a general science/STEM organization and host workshops and socials for you to meet others!
Our Executive Board & Officers are elected (or appointed if there's a vacancy). The Executive Board works directly with College of Science administrators and serve as the chief representatives for the council. The Board sets agendas and manages administrative tasks, finances and communication efforts.
Feel free to email us! We are here to help and support you! We are also peer mentors.
Hello! My name is Manuel but I go by Manny. I am a 3rd year Biology PhD student and I research Mycobacteria and how they grow.
I attended Dallas College and later transferred to UTA. I graduated in 2020 with a BS in Biology, a Psychology Minor and completed the UTeach program. After my PhD I plan on staying in academia as a teaching professor and plan to continue working with students and advocating for science policies. My hobbies include baking, birding, reading and working out! You can contact me at manuel.chavez2@mavs.uta.edu. I’m always happy to help!

Our Ambassadors are peer mentors who represent each academic department in the College of Science. Ambassadors work closely with department leaders and help ensure that student voices are heard in departmental decisions. They may help with department events and help connect their peers to resources, opportunities, and support. They are the bridge between students, faculty and the council. They are often leaders in different student organizations too!

Hi! My name is Fairooz Samia and I am the Chemistry and Biochemistry Ambassador. I am from Bangladesh and currently a junior majoring in Biochemistry at UT Arlington. Chemistry has always been a subject that intrigued me and it led me to also be a tutor at the Chemistry clinic to help support my peers as well as being part of a research lab that focuses on peptide synthesis and development. I am deeply passionate about medicinal chemistry and drug synthesis, and I hope to carry that focus into a PhD program after graduation. As a departmental ambassador, I am committed to nurturing a welcoming, collaborative environment for all our students. I look forward to connecting with you!
