Why it's important to you?

Summary of the reasons provided by the petition signatories.

✓ For the High School Swim team so they can continue to have prime time pool use

✓ So they don't have to get up at 4am for practice or practice at 9pm at night

✓ So they can practice immediately after school and not have to be bused somewhere else

✓ So they don't lose study time travelling for practice

✓ So our High School swim team can continue to exist and use their own pool

✓ So the more casual swimmer and not just the most dedicated swimmer can join the swim team

✓ So kids can walk or bike to the pool on their own and not have to be driven to the pool

✓ For healthy living and to provide a choice for recreation activities

✓ For those kids who are not able to play any other sport but are able to enjoy swimming

✓ Because swimming is a 12 month all year round activity

✓ Because swimming is a life skill that everyone should have the opportunity to learn

✓ Because this pool is owned by the Rutherford community

✓ Because the Mayor and Council stipulated that it be shared with the community

✓ Because the YMCA made a $1.2 million investment offer

✓ Because that offer allows Rutherford Taxpayer's to keep their community pool reaping all of the benefits and none of the costs

✓ Because with 2 pools the YMCA can offer many new year round community programs like the recently announced Rutherford Swim Club

✓ Because there are too few swimming pools in this area and there is huge demand

✓ Because filling in a multi-million dollar swimming pool facility with dirt is not fiscally responsible

✓ Because senior citizens who swim should get something too in return for their tax dollars

✓ Because there are viable alternative options

✓ Because it's not necessary to destroy the pool

✓ Because the referendum will be defeated if filling in the pool is included on the ballot

✓ Because it enhances our community and is the right thing to do
