Facilities Priority Recap

The cost for each project was provided in the September 2017 presentation (pages 51 & 52) for a total of $49.4 million. Those costs were revised upwards for the April 2018 presentation after EPIC reviewed the plans and identified missing items, bringing the total expense to $53 million. Those revised costs were only published at the school level and not individually by project. All details can be found on the District's Facilities Website.

Rutherford High School ($22.8 million)

• Convert the existing substandard science labs into 5 general classrooms. $1.53 million
• Add 4 modern science labs in place of the current cafeteria. $1.63 million
• Add a cafeteria/kitchen in place of the pool. $4.79 million
• Renovate the Mortimer wing. $10.25 million
• Turf the back field. $2.5 million
• ACM Remediation (Asbestos Containing Material) $825,000
• EPIC identified additional costs for the High School projects. $1.32 million

Pierrepont Elementary School ($15.7 million)

• Build a new gym with a stage that is the appropriate size for an upper-level elementary school. $6.5 million
• Add a two-story addition that would include 11 new classrooms. $7.7 million
• Renovate the current multi-purpose room (Add A/C, increase capacity, ADA ramp) $1.3 million
• EPIC identified additional costs for the Pierrepont School projects. $101,000

Union Middle School ($10.6 million)

• Convert the existing gym into 3 modern science labs. $1.53 million
• Build a new gym that is an appropriate size for a middle school. $6.2 million
• Add A/C into the auditorium. $900,000
• Miscellaneous building repairs ( Replace wood floors in 10 classrooms, repair front columns) $625,000.
• EPIC identified additional costs for the Union School projects. $1.33 million

Kindergarten Center ($2.4 million)

• Add an exterior elevator for building accessibility. $700,000
• Replace the roof. $225,000
• Add A/C to the multi-purpose room. $375,000
• Expand the existing playground area and add equipment. $65,000
• Add 3 toilet rooms to classrooms that are lacking such facilities, as mandated by NJDOE. $591,500
• Add a toilet room to the nurse's office. $196,000
• EPIC identified additional costs for the Kindergarten Center projects. $263,000

Lincoln Elementary School ($1.3 million)

• Add two new classrooms. $800,000
• Add a new Pre-K playground. $65,000
