The feeling in the air was that we all belong to this earth, members of the same family. Irrespective of class, caste, and social status, there was a good view of intermingling. What a lovely union of the junior classes of Lakhilunga Government School and the senior students of the Holy Cross School. The students spontaneously rose to the occasion and played, interacted, exchanged their ideas and phone numbers, and learnt and taught dance steps.
Besides the lovely interaction and activities, the students did something more practical with their savings. They used their pocket money and bought essential commodities for 50 families, prizes, and food items for the children. They conducted games and the winners were rewarded with prizes. The joy and smile of the denizens of the tea garden is note-worthy. We are lucky enough to see our tiny tots become responsible citizens and able to inculcate the feeling of oneness among them. I believe this drive is one of the feathers to the crown of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.
