Mandatos Formales - Formal Commands
Formal Commands, Ud., Uds.
Based on the yo form of the present tense.
Replace the -o with -e or -en for -ar verbs; replace the -o with -a or -an for -er and -ir verbs.
To make these commands negative, just put no in front of the command.
hable - speak!
hablen - speak! (all of you)
coma - eat!
coman - eat (all of you)
escriba - write!
escriban - write (all of you)
tenga - have!
tengan - have (all of you)
no hable
no hablen
no coma
no coman
no escriba
no escriban
no tenga
no tengan
Irregular formal commands are the verbs that don't end in -o in the yo form.
These must be memorized.
Ser- soy - sea, sean
Estar -estoy - esté, estén
Saber - sé - sepa, sepan
Dar - doy - dé, den
Ir - voy - vaya, vayan
no sea, no sean
no esté, no estén
no sepa, no sepan
no dé, no den
no vaya, vayan
Remember, when you want to use a
Direct object pronoun, attach it to the end of POSITIVE commands and put it BEFORE NEGATIVE commands.
