Ethnic Studies

 To me, Ethnic Studies is a really important element of the learning experience for students. I feel that my engagement , drive and willingness to create a Standards based  Ethnic Studies Curriculum sets me apart from other Educators. as a biracial , African American and Mexican woman I take pride in sharing my culture with my students as often as possible. As Ethnic Studies is becoming more and more popular in the California Education System, I've chosen to show some of my favorite Ethnic Studies  lessons that I've created over the last 5 years, starting with my years in the Multiple subjects Teaching Credential program,  as support that I would be an asset to the California Educational System

Developing a Culturally Responsive Classroom In this year long curriculum map that celebrates a  culture every month and utilizes BIPOC mentor texts

La Rosa de Guadalupe Persuasive Writing Unit This Unit plan takes a creative spin on integrating translanguaging in the bilingual classroom by having students turn their persuasive essays into Controversial Issue theatrical plays.

Mexico sin Fronteras This lesson focuses on the differences in mapping  of Mexico and the Western United states over time. This can be used as a Bridging lesson between English and Spanish content vocabulary
