My goal is to make instruction as engaging as possible by finding out about my students interests at the beginning of the school year,
I built the first unit of the semester based on students largely being interested in Black Lives Matter. This Unit also features a week of lessons about Latin American Independence, including Kahoot!, youtube and edpuzzle videos.
BlackLives Matter and Marginalized Peoples Thematic Unit
This semester I’ve used Google Classroom,Google Suite Apps, Achieve 3000, ST Math, Kahoot!, Youtube,Edpuzzle, Padlet and Peardeck to boost student engagement. I try to make my lessons as entertaining and engaging as possible while still covering CCSS

Semester 1 Math Review Kahoot!
As part of the Teacher Evaluation and Induction process we’re often asked to reflect on our teaching, which has been immensely useful. Towards the end of the semester I’ve focused on having my students engage in the reflection process as well. For the assignment Chapter 3 Review Reflection students were asked to reflect on their progress and learning during Chapter 3 Operations with Integers. I used Bloom's Taxonomy to create the questions. Students were asked to complete this assignment after I gave them feedback where I presented common procedural mistakes I found on the Chapter 3 Review Slides while I was grading. Students were then given the opportunity to resubmit any work that they had make a mistake on.
Chapter 3 Review Slides Reflection
To close our my first thematic unit Black Lives Matter and Marginalized Peoples I assigned an essay where students were asked to respond to the prompt “How big of a problem in our society today?:I originally gave them a week to complete this assignment. To my surprise they were unable to complete it on their own within that amount of time. So I spent the next month introducing genres of writing and going through the writing process with my students, instead of moving on to the next unit of study as planned,
