CSTP Standard 3: Understanding and Organizing Subject Matter for Student Learning

3.1 Demonstrating knowledge of subject matter, academic content standards, and curriculum frameworks (Innovating)

I often backwards plan to create my own lessons based on CCSS standards and student needs. I’ve created google slides to present school required curriculum such as CPM and ARC to make lessons more accessible to students.

I progress monitor students every week and provide differentiated instruction based on their skills set. Students received standards based small group instruction

In response to low engagement during the 1st quarter (Q1) of Distance Learning, I reworked my lessons to present them in a more interactive manner, Through Peardeck students were able to participate live in class without the traditional raising of their hand to speak. I could also track their progress in real time.

Whenever Possible I use bilingual lessons with support and information in Spanish for my emergent bilingual students. All my English learners speak Spanish as their dominant language.
