We started out the course looking at what exactly creativity meant to us, and how we viewed it in our own context. Mine had a lot of anxiety around it. The intent of the course is to better understand and define what creativity is.
I enjoyed this project, I found it helpful to rework an assignment that I had already tried, and wasn't as successful the first time I had done it. This allowed me to not only have a chance to redo the project but I am finding more success with it now in class.
The project was to take a project we had already done, and to make it more creative, to add in aspects we felt would make it more original and inventive.
This was the updated project I did the assignment sheet. I put it together and am using it currently with my class.
This was the example I created for my students to see what would be expected of them.
The objective here was to try out a creative lesson you normally wouldn't try. I did a project with my grade 11 students that I normally would not have by getting them to create their our cuneiform tablets out of clay. We actually had a lot of fun with the project.
The final project was a to create a lesson, within a space that promoted creativity. For this I modified my current classroom, as well as creating a cumulative project that I will be using this year with my World History class.
I made a short video of the modifications I made to my classroom. I am creating a timeline in it, and my students and I are building it together.
Here was my rationale for the project, along with the project outline and rubric work I completed.
As we closed out the course we where to finish off with any new definitions of creativity we had. Mine hadn't changed, so much as it evolved. There is still anxiety, but I think now their is a challenge. To try something new, and to make mistakes.
Overall I enjoyed the course I think it challenged me creatively as well as critically. It has me questioning my definition of creativity as well as my own expectations of myself. It was an interesting course and I found it to be an insightful one.
