I completed a short story about myself, I really liked this exercise and had a lot of fun putting it together. It was hard to only pick 5 key things about myself, but I feel it really sort of captured me as an individual. I put a lot of work into it, and did spend little more time then I probably should setting up the cover photo of my cat.
About Me.pdfThroughout this course we kept a blog that investigated a subject that correlated to teaching in the 21st century classroom. I choose to investigate the use of media in the classroom. It was a very interesting and I thoroughly enjoyed engaging in and connecting with different ideas and content for my blogs. I completed 10 in all, all of them relating to the topic in media.
PhilosophyofPracticeSarahW.pdfI did not do as well on the assignment as I had hoped. I did not fully understand what was being asked of me, so I think I sort of messed it up a bit. It ended up reading as more of a reflection then a philosophy, and I completely understand that. I think I should retry writing a personal philosophy towards teaching, and actually focus on the teaching, and my personal beliefs.
The final assignment in this course was a paper reviewing three articles that speaks to innovation in teaching and learning. I found three articles that specifically looked at the innovation in using media in the classroom; virtual classroom, MMO's, and social media. I did very well on the assignment I was pleased as my instructor was able to sort of follow along in my train of thought which was great.
Article_Review_SarahW.pdfI really, really enjoyed this course. I found the blog was actually a lot of fun to write I liked finding articles and picking out new topics. It also was near and dear to my heart to talk about using media in the class and exploring how it could be successfully done. I think to date this have been my favorite course in the program. I love talking technology, and thinking about creative ideas and challenging things to do in the classroom. I hope I will be tackling some more types of these courses and I start to finish out my last four courses in the fall.
