Suggested Route

You've run in circles, but feel like you aren't making any progress. Enemies feel too strong for your build, and you worry that you've wandered off the right path.

Fear not, Saltborn. Let Devara's Light guide your way.

Shivering Shore

A brief and relatively harmless area. Simply head to the right to progress.

Festering Banquet

Crumbling spires and crenellations. Head to the top right of this map to fight the Sodden Knight, then use the key he drops on the door at the bottom right of the map to continue.

Village of Smiles

Once you've exited the Festering Banquet, stop at the Devara's Light Sanctuary across the crumbling bridge before turning around and going down and left. Going this direction will get you to the Village of Smiles. There is an optional boss, the Queen of Smiles, hiding in the top left of the map. Whether or not you choose to fight her, go to the right of the Sanctuary found in this map to continue.

The Watching Woods

A maze of trees. Heading to the top right of the map will reveal the Sanctuary and the map's boss, the Mad Alchemist. Defeating him and heading to the right of the Sanctuary with his key will get you to the next area. You can also skip him and take a shortcut to the next area if you go to the bottom right of the map instead.

Sunken Keep

Guarded by two bosses, though you aren't required to fight both. If you've found the Kraekan Cyclops boss, head right and up the first ladder you see until you find the Sanctuary. If you've come from the Watching Woods Sanctuary, heading down and left will reveal an elevator that will take you to the Cyclops, while heading right will take you to the Sanctuary. At this Sanctuary, head up and left to find the second boss, the False Jester. If you have beaten the Cyclops, you can use his key to continue left instead and skip the False Jester entirely. Once you've talked to the Mad Jester NPC, you can either head up and left to get back to the Festering Banquet or up and right to skip right to the next area.

Bandit's Pass

A highway littered with enemies. Work your way right through all the enemies to progress.

Castle of Storms

A large castle with tough enemies. Go to the top left of the map to find the Sanctuary, then head up and right as best you can from there to find the Candlelit Saferoom. From here, head up and left to the very top of the map to find the Kraekan Wyrm. Once defeated, head left and down until you find the Thief NPC, and collect your brand. Then, search the right side of the map until you find a vertical hallway you can walljump up, and use the Obelisk to reach the lever that will let you out of the castle.

Red Hall of Cages

A long, vertical map of enemies and traps. The Sanctuary is in the top right portion of this map. If you're feeling dangerous, you can head to the right of the Sanctuary and enter the Dome of the Forgotten, but the more linear path would be to continue down to the bottom of the Red Hall. Behind a false wall to the right of three spinning platform wheels, there is a hidden Sanctuary where the player can join the House of Splendor. It is suggested that the player stop here before continuing, as it will make coming back here easier later on. Continue to the bottom right of the map to find the candlelit saferoom, and to the left of this saferoom to encounter the boss of the map, the Tree of Men. Continue left once you defeat it.

Hager's Cavern

This area is full of skeletons and monsters. Heading immediately up and right will help you find the Sanctuary. You'll need to go down and right from the Sanctuary to find a key guarded by a multitude of spiders, then head back up and left into the map past the single Wrathful Dead. Continue left past the Pale Witches, use the ladder, use the Obelisk, and follow the path until you find a lever. After using the lever, progress back to area with the Pale Witches, head up and right, and use the key on the door to unlock the boss, the Disembowled Husk. After obtaining his key, go to the top left of the map to unlock a door guarded by multiple skeletons and escape into the next area.

Mire of Stench

A bog of poison and traps. Go directly left to reach the Sanctuary inside a building. From here, go up onto the collapsing platforms, take the elevator upwards, then progress to the right. In the top right of the map there's a candlelit saferoom, while progressing up and left as far as you can go will get you to the boss, That Stench Most Foul. Continue left after defeating it to gain the Redshift Brand. Using a torch, you can remove Redshift walls - go left, do so, and continue on to the Fort.

Fort-Beyond-The-Mire

Not much to see here. Simply go to the left and talk to the boatman to continue.

The Far Beach

Collect the Sanctuary you find here to the left of the dock. From here, it is suggested you use a Calling Horn or summon a Stone Guide NPC to escape back to the Red Hall of Cages Sanctuary.

Dome of the Forgotten

From the Red Hall of Cages Sanctuary, go right until you come across the Dome of the Forgotten. Once inside, the Sanctuary is immediately up and to the left. From here, progress up as high as you can go, then right until you reach the far end of the map. Go back down and you'll find the candlelit saferoom. Go left from this saferoom to find the first boss, the Untouched Inquisitor. After defeating him, take the ladders inside his arena to go upward and to the right. Take the elevator up, then follow the path until you reach the second boss, the Third Lamb. Go left after beating it to obtain the Hardlight Brand, then return to the candlelit saferoom of this map and pull out a torch. You will now be able to go down and right across the gap.

Ziggurat of Dust

A pyramid full of monsters and gravity puzzles. Go right to reach the Sanctuary, then follow the path upward until you make it to the very top. It's guarded by the Dried King, but defeating him will grant you the Dart Brand. Continue right to exit the pyramid, then re-enter at the bottom to return to the Sanctuary. Heading downward, make your way from left to right to find a lever that activates an elevator, which you can now take up and right to the Far Beach Sanctuary, or down and left to the boss at the bottom of the Pyramid, the Bloodless Prince. Continue left after defeating him.

The Ruined Temple

A purely vertical map. Continue downward along the right wall as best you can to find the Sanctuary. Upon finding it, continue down and left until you find the boss, The Coveted. Keep going down once you defeat it until you reach the bottom, then head left into Siam Lake to find the Sanctuary just to the right of the first ladder you come across. From here, there are several optional areas that are best done now instead of later.

Cran's Pass

Found to the right of the House of Splendor Sanctuary. Use a Calling Horn or a Stone Guide NPC to return here, then go the right, using all the Brands you've acquired to reach this area's hidden boss, Ronin Cran. Upon defeating him, you can continue right back into The Ruined Temple for more rewards, or use another Calling Horn/Stone Guide NPC to transport yourself to the Dome of the Forgotten Sanctuary.

Mal's Floating Castle

Floating above the pit between the Red Hall of Cages and the Dome of the Forgotten. Heading left from the Dome of the Forgotten Sanctuary, keep a torch out to see the hidden Hardlight platforms that lead to an Obelisk, which rockets you into the sky and up into Mal's Floating Castle. The castle is not very complicated. Just head from left to right until you reach the top to fight the boss, Murdiella Mal. Once you've defeated her, transport back to the Siam Lake Sanctuary.

Pitchwoods

A simple, yet complicated area. There are very few enemies here, but all of them hit very hard, so be careful. Disappearing platforms are everywhere, and will need to be crossed if you wish to reach candlelit saferoom. From here, you may go upwards across even more disappearing platforms to reach a hidden creed, the Keepers of Fire and Sky, or you can continue to the right to find the area's boss, Carsejaw the Cruel. Return to the Siam Lake Sanctuary when you are finished.

The Blackest Vault

This area is optional, and can only be accessed if the player has acquired a Bloody Writ thorughout their playthrough. Bloody Writs are given to players who have attempted to desecrate a Sanctuary and failed. If you have a Writ and wish to access the area, go to the right of the Siam Lake Sanctuary until you find a pit. Continue down into the pit, always dropping from each platform on the same side as the flow of the water. Continue until you reach the bottom collapsing bridge, where you can run quickly to the left to double-air-dash to collect a Drowned Tome, or run to the right to reach the hidden creed, the Order of the Betrayer. Return to Siam Lake when you have finished your business.

Siam Lake

Not much to see here. Just an arena for the Witch of the Lake. Progress to the left once you've overcome her magic.

Salt Alkymancery

A labyrinth of windtunnels. Head straight to the left and air-dash across the gap, heading past two Saltless and into a windtunnel. This will bring you to the area's Sanctuary. Once here, continue right to the fork and take the upward windtunnel. Once you've exited, continue upward until you find some disappearing platforms. Continue up these until you find a windtunnel in the left wall. Take that all the way back down to the bottom of the map, where heading to the right you will find a lever that opens a windtunnel that sits on the top of the gap you crossed earlier. You can then continue down the disappearing platforms, heading to the right until you find a vertical hallway that lets you walljump into another windtunnel. Taking this windtunnel and then exiting to the left will get you this area's boss, The Unskinned and The Architect. Continue left and up when you defeat them. If you die and return to the Sanctuary, you can now head right into the horizontal windtunnel, which will take you directly to the gap. Take the shortcut you opened here and it will place you back near the vertical hallway from before.

Crypt of Dead Gods

Another labyrinth. Head immediately left across the top of the map to find the Sanctuary. Head back the way you came and go down and right as best you can. Once you reach the rightmost wall, you'll need to drop down. Be sure to heal before doing so, as the fall will cause some damage. Once you make it down below, head left until you see a doorway below you - this is the candlelit saferoom of the map. From here you have two options. You can either drop down and go to the right to reach Kraekan Dragon Skourzh, or you can walljump back to the top of the saferooms roof and then head left, where you'll have to perform a tricky airdash into a doorway on the leftmost wall. Once inside, you'll go left and fall down a series of platforms to reach the hidden boss, The Forgotten King. If you're struggling with the platforms, adjust your camera downward and keep an eye out for cobwebs or candelabras that will suggest which side of the platforms are safe to drop from. Once you've beaten both bosses, head right from Skourzh's arena to the next area.

The Still Palace

The final area. There's a candlelit saferoom in the top right of the map. Otherwise, the only way to go from here is down. Goodluck.
