Low-Molecular-Weighting of Kerogen

Kerogen is a significant resource that constitutes 90% of organic matter in geological samples. However, its utilization is limited because it is insoluble in any solvents. We are challenging the chemical decomposition of kerogen and reconstructing ancient environments from the organic molecules that make up kerogen.

The figure shows an image of various organic molecules produced to a size that can be analyzed by GCMS after the degradation of kerogen.
