Carbon Cycle and Molecular Fossils at Yamaguchi University, Japan
Saito was launched at Yamaguchi University in 2022. The number of lab members is gradually increasing, and research projects are gradually progressing.
Our ultimate goal is to understand the Earth system from the perspective of material cycles, especially the carbon cycle. It is no exaggeration to say that if we can understand the carbon cycle, we can well understand the history of the Earth.
We aim to recover vital elements of the carbon cycle from organic molecules in sedimentary rocks and from there, constrain the conditions of models of the carbon cycle in order to reconstruct more plausible environmental perturbations in the past.
