Finding Social Benefit Services

If you feel as though you cannot live comfortably with your income there are various benefits that you may qualify for. You can find information on provincial programs at the Government of Alberta website, which provides information on housing, benefits programs, and more. Income Tax Preparation for Low-Income Seniors

Every year in March and April, trained volunteers at Sage Seniors Association prepare income tax returns for low-income seniors free of charge.

This service is offered in partnership with the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program of the Canada Revenue Agency, and ensures that seniors continue to access the financial assistance for which they are eligible.

Eligibility requirements for accessing these tax preparation services are:

  • annual income of less than $35,000 for singles or $45,000 for a couple
  • no income from rental property, farming or self-employment
  • no capital gains (except as reported on a T3 or T5)
