What is Title IX?

Title IX is a national law that requires gender equality in all locations that receive public funding. This is to protect everyone from ANY discrimination based on their gender.


What is a Title IX officer?

A Title IX officer is someone who is required by law to monitor and implement any and all district compliance that prohibits sex discrimination. AKA, if you have reported assault or harassment, these are the people who take care of that issue.


How do I raise a title IX issue?

A Title IX issue is raised by someone who reports sexual assault and/or harassment to a staff member. This staff member is required to tell this issue to the on site Title IX coordinator. Depending on the assessment and severity of the issue, law enforcement may be called in.

A Title IX issue can be raised in person or online via formal complaint forms. These forms may very district to district and state to state. To look for these forms and information, ask any staff member at your school or you can also research by looking up Title IX with your specific district's website.

Does my school have Title IX?

Yes, every schools is required to follow the Title IX law. Also districts have a district Title IX coordinator, however, each school should also have an on-site Title IX coordinator.

Can I stay anonymous with Title IX?

No. If you make a formal report through Title IX, the accused will be notified of the complaint and who made the complaint. The only real way to stay anonymous is through any school report and disciplinary actions through the school.
