Richard Young has devoted his life to the sacred work of teaching and mentoring rising generations. Since 1991, he has worked for Seminaries and Institutes of Religion (formerly CES), shaping minds and strengthening testimonies in both seminary and institute classrooms. He began teaching early-morning and released-time seminary in Calgary and Cardston while completing his Bachelor's and Master of Education degrees. After transferring to Calgary to pursue doctoral studies, Richard began his years at the Calgary Institute of Religion - becoming an 'institution' of his own. Everyone knows Brother Young! Through the years, he has blessed countless lives with his sage wisdom, Christlike kindness, and unwavering faith. He currently serves as bishop of the Chinook YSA Ward, where his love for single adults continues to be a defining hallmark of his service.
Beyond the classroom and chapel, Richard brings joy and vitality to everything he does. Whether astonishing audiences with a bit of magic, pushing himself across marathon finish lines, or gathering his ever-growing family close, he lives with enthusiasm and purpose. He and his wife, Alison, are the grateful parents of six wonderful children and the delighted grandparents of 11 cherished grandchildren—his greatest treasures and proudest legacy.
