We are excited to have Elder James E. Evanson and Sister Jody K. Evanson as our guest speakers for Saturday’s Rooted & Reaching Summit.
Elder Evanson was sustained as a General Authority Seventy in April 2025 and currently serves as Second Counsellor in the Canada Area Presidency. A native of Taber, Alberta, he has served faithfully throughout his life in many capacities, including as a missionary, stake president, mission president of the Utah Orem Mission, and Area Seventy. Alongside his devoted wife, Sister Evanson, he has dedicated his life to strengthening faith in Jesus Christ and ministering to God’s children across Canada.
In February 2026, Elder and Sister Evanson made a special visit to the Lions Gate Ward. Elder Evanson shared that, as a General Authority, he had been counselled to minister to all of God’s sheep. Through prayer, they felt guided to visit Lions Gate specifically. That inspired visit was a powerful witness of the love and support our leadership has for single adults across Canada.
During that visit, Elder Evanson invited us to live joyfully, teaching that true joy comes from living the gospel, making and keeping covenants, and centering our lives on our Savior, Jesus Christ. Sister Evanson encouraged us to pray daily to know who we can minister to each day, reminding us that discipleship is personal and intentional.
Those who were present in February felt edified and uplifted by their profound and inspired words. Their sincere love for single adults is unmistakable, and we are grateful for their continued ministry among us.
We look forward with excitement and anticipation to hearing their inspired messages at the Summit.
